Kitchen and Bath Design

Sounds simple, right? Actually no. Successful design of a kitchen or bathroom is like solving a puzzle. A good kitchen and bath designer knows how to maximize the use of the available space in a way that is functional and beautiful. But wait, there’s more. One must also account for how everything would actually be constructed and installed, and what building codes require. Our experienced designer takes all of these factors into account when designing your kitchen or bathroom. 3D design software provides an extra level of precision and allows you visualize the final result(link or a popup, not to a different site although the below is copied and pasted from decora cabinets website).

If you are working with a professional kitchen designer, you can expect to receive the following:

FLOOR PLAN

floorplan.jpg

A drawing illustrating the elements of a room from an overhead perspective.

ELEVATION

NewElevation.jpg

A floor-level drawing that shows a front, side or rear view of a room in a vertical plane, illustrating how elements appear face-to-face in the space.

PERSPECTIVE

A perspective drawing is one that is “3D” or dimensional. It shows the room as it would be actually seen from the viewpoint of a person 5'-6" in height. Perspective drawings provide details such as areas that are increased or reduced in depth, a dimensional quality that elevation drawings don’t offer.

Complete Remodel Design

As our name would suggest, Kitchens and Bathrooms are at the center of what we do, and where most of our customers start. That said, we have done several major remodeling projects. The same principles and attention to detail we apply to our kitchen and bathroom projects can transform your entire house into your dream home.

Project Execution

From rough construction to the finishing touches, having the designer onsite to work with the general contractor and trade specialists can make or break a project. We can work with your existing contractor team or refer you to the experienced professionals that we have successfully collaborated with on previous projects.

Cabinet Installation

Why is this listed separately? The points here apply to all finish work, but let’s talk about cabinet installation specifically. For a kitchen remodel, cabinetry generally accounts for around 40% of the entire project cost. This is a significant investment and visually anchors the look of the space. If there is one piece of advice I would give to a customer, it is to have your cabinets installed by a professional installer. The difference between a cheap installation and a professional is not that great, but the results can be dramatically different. Our installers know what they are doing, they are intimately familiar with the cabinet lines we carry and they are very gifted at making everything look perfect. When you use our installer, this is what you get:

  • Confirm final room dimensions, including windows, doors and any obstacles

  • Check the plumb and level condition of the walls, ceiling, and floors (very rarely is everything perfectly straight, square, and level. This is where the art of cabinet installation comes into play)

  • Install cabinetry per design and accommodate any changes if necessary

  • Verify that all doors/drawers are level and operating properly after installation

  • Install panels on appliances (usually occurs after appliance installation)

  • Install farmhouse sink (if required) in preparation for countertop templating

  • Install plywood on top of base cabinets in preparation for countertop templating

  • Install all mouldings and panels on cabinets per design (the importance of this is vastly underappreciated)

  • Install hardware on drawers and doors

  • Touch up of nail holes with manufacturer supplied paint/stain after installation
